I had the opportunity thanks to Affresh and Crowdtap to try three appliance cleaners. As I am preparing for a move, cleaning the house is all the more important. I've had a dishwasher for the better part of 2-3 years, and almost every time it's caused my dishes to come out dirtier than they went in. And with the amount of coffee we make in the home, I was MOST eager to try out the coffee-maker cleaner!
First up: Coffee-maker
Look at all that ick! Every pot of coffee made recently has had that mixed in! Post-rinse, the whole maker, and carafe, were perfectly clean: Quite literally looked like new. Normally, I have to rinse 3-4 times after cleaning with vinegar, but this required just the one rinse, and the next brew was a pot of coffee that tastes delicious and pure.
I'm quite pleased, myself, with how this turned out. I would recommend!
Next up: Sink
This was intended to be used with a garbage disposal, but since we don't have one right now, I broke up the tablet and poured it into the drain, but otherwise used it per directions. It surprisingly did pretty well, and dissolved some of the food-bits that had inevitably been left in the drain from rinsing plates over time. I didn't think the sink needed a drain-cleaning, but after using this Affresh sample, it drained even better than usual, so... It would appear I was wrong!
I was also pleased with how this turned out, and I am eager to someday try it in conjunction with an actual garbage disposal. If it works as well with one, I'd recommend this as well!
Ahhh the dishwasher. This one was the wildcard. I bought this dishwasher a few years ago, second-hand, hoping to make it easy on myself to do dishes. Then despite thorough cleanings, with all kinds of cleansers, dishes kept coming out DIRTIER than when they went in. I hoped for the best, and ran a cycle with a light load of dishes, albeit some were quite dirty.
And, I was quite surprised! Everything was not only clean, it was shimmering and spotless. I don't know if it will hold the cleanliness with further cleanings, or if I'll have to use a pod with each load; But even if that is the case, it is more than worth it for this result. I HIGHLY recommend this one. If it can help this dishwasher, it can help ANY dishwasher.
I'd like to officially announce my general resignation as a beauty blogger, as I take this time to focus on the launch of my Graphics Design for the Twitch and Beam creative entertainment realms. While going through some serious real life punches, I made the decision to take this step forward to built up my artistic skills, and help create quality graphics to help others put their best foot forward.
I will undoubtedly return to blogging and beauty in general in the future, but for the time being my focus will be on the Graphics. Even if you're not involved with Twitch or Beam, I can still work with you! Be sure to message and let me know what you're needing.
Thanks for being the best you guys! I can't wait to see you on the other side!
I decided I would use my Cetaphil sample just before bedtime, since washing all the makeup off my face that I had tested on New Year's Day would invariably dry my skin out. Instead of my usual moisturizer, I used the Cetaphil and went straight to bed.
Immediately after putting it on my face, my skin felt... Like cool whip, for lack of a better term. Fluffy almost! And silky, silky smooth. My normal moisturizer doesn't even do that! And to top it all off, it stayed that way all night as I slept, and all day the next day. Around bedtime would have been a great time to use it again, with the winter drying out skin everywhere. This little sample is too small to use as a body cream, but when I buy more I sure as heck will be replacing my lotion AND face moisturizers! So good. It has a really neutral smell, too, so anyone allergic to fragrances might be able to use this as well. I love it, although I wouldn't use it in the morning. It's a bit heavy if you want to wake up, but just before bedtime is perfect. Helps you feel drowsy, and then your face is pre-moistened in the morning without the sleepy heaviness!
Happy Christmas and Solstice and any other holiday you celebrate this time of year! I'd like to first take a moment to provide an update to where I have been, and why there have been no updates on the blog since August.
At the very beginning of August, my fiance unfortunately was laid off. We've since been doing everything we can to keep all the bills in order, but that has meant I don't have the time I used to for blogging, or reviews in general, as my fiance was the primary provider for income. We're hoping to have that sorted soon, but as of now that just means I will only be able to review things every so often. I haven't forgotten about you guys!
To kick things off...
To kick the new year off early, I'll be reviewing not one, but TWO Influenster boxes! Today's box is the Covergirl Vox Box, which contains the brand new Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO as well as the Colorlicious Oh Sugar! lip blam.
I had Christmas photos to take today, so this came in at the perfect time. Before photo has no makeup, and the after photo has just these two products and a plain eye shadow.
Covergirl Plumpify Mascara
Covergirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar!
This one was new for me, it's a lip balm that's also scented and tinted. Somehow, Influenster got the shade so spot on, that this Caramel 3 colour is exactly my natural lip shade! When I put it on, not only did it immediately moisturize my chapped lips, it evened the tone of them. [Cold-sore battles as a kid left me with darkened patches in my lip area, but this completely hid those!]
The best part of this one for me, was it wasn't at all heavy like most balms are. After a while with other balms I end up feeling like my lips are warm, and heavy. Not so with this one! So light you could almost forget it was even there.
Here's the Christmas photo we took, with these products applied [to me, of course ;D]

And my least favourite scents, unsurprising once I looked at the actual list of ingredients, are the Scandal, American Royalty, and the Famous scents. I'm not a fan of rose things, especially roses themselves. Scandal I will potentially adjust to, since it seems to have a gentler rose addition to it, and a tub full of water may help dilute it even more. The others, I'm not so sure about. :)
Many said their free gift was Lee, and since I don't remember adding that particular shade on I think that was also my 'Free gift for 3 add-ons'. And in the same light, I think everyone got these neat metallic temporary tattoos as a bonus! So cute.
The Pink Titles/Texts are from the August collection!
