Julep has outdone themselves again. From now until the 12th, you can purchase any one [or more! ;D] of three Mystery Box styles. One lucky winner of each style will have a polish named AFTER THEM! Or, you know, someone near and dear to your heart. *cough cough* For only $24.99 each, these are guaranteed not to have any overlap with the other two styles, AND the polishes and products inside them have never been in a mystery box so far this year!!! Get them while you can, because these are selling faster than a Wonka bar!

I am so so so SO excited to review this box. I ventured forth away from my usual It Girl, and instead went for [I believe] Bombshell, with an It Girl polish added on. This means I also got the Plie Wand, the "Revolutionary new polishing tool" from Julep. I've been against getting it simply because I actually don't have any difficulties polishing with my non-dominant hand, as I am ambidextrous, but I figured since I got it anyway, I might as well try it. And I'm glad I did, for surprising reasons!! ***Disclaimer*** Let me apologize for the lack of cleanup in all of the following reviews, I left the mess to show how much was left behind while using the new Julep Plie Wand. This gorgeous apricot shimmer is Julep's Saaya. Mangoes, and apricots, and peaches all come to mind with this beautiful shifty colour, and prepare you for a day of beach strolling under the palms with a coconut in your hand. Saaya practically BEGS to be worn for just such a vacation, and while she was a little difficult and streaky with application, she eventually settled to be less noticeable. I firmly believe if I had used a fourth coat, they would have disappeared all together. :) With Saaya, the Plie wand performed okay, although I did not use it for the first coat so this might have given it an unfair base to stand on. As a note, with Saaya, I did like many and tried to firmly attach the plie cap. Do NOT do this! It's just not designed for it. You'll risk breaking your beautiful polish, and/or the plie cap itself if you do, because you'll ultimately need to resort to pliers. Just lightly press the Plie cap over the brush cap, and it will hold just as well! This, surprisingly [Or unsurprisingly?] was hands and nails down my FAVOURITE polish to swatch today. Even though I was painting with my non-dominant hand, WITH the plie wand, the colour didn't fight me one bit during application, and I was legitimately saddened that it got ruined when taking off the polish from my other hand. Truly, having to wave adieu to this polish... One should never experience it. Laree is a BEAUTIFUL soft tulip pink cream with a subtle but obvious golden peach shimmer shifting its way throughout. With two coats it was opaque enough to wear, though three coats is shown, and not a streak was to be found anywhere. With this polish, the wand neither made it easier, nor more difficult to polish. It was definitely comfortable to hold, but because it's an entirely different way to polish with my non-dominant hand, it was a bit shaky trying to apply without making a mess. I think another try or two with this hand would make such an improvement; And I do see how this tool would help someone who isn't otherwise able to paint neatly, with either hand. Kam was my added-on polish, from It Girl, and the one I was most excited to get. A smooth surprisingly minty green cream, Kam applied with a fantastic shine and smooth, even layers, with no streaks whatsoever. Although the wand got a little awkward with my thumb, I blame my posture, not the wand. I was so fascinated by the minty hue [I'm a sucker for mint greens] that I was practically hovering over my nails during application lol. The wand felt a lot more natural to hold by this time, the second time using it with my dominant hand. Very pleased by this point, and had a realization about the Plie Wand. So, what about the Wand? My original outlook was that it would be redundant, and highly unnecessary for me and my polishing fun. I can paint perfectly fine, with minimal cleanup required; On either hand. Prior to the style release, I had no intention of purchasing the Plie wand. Then the colours I wanted were not together, and in order to get them I had to have a style that included the wand. During use, my outlook actively changed. While I was stubbornly refusing to admit it was comfortable, the fact remained: It really was. The diameter wasn't as large as I had thought, so it was much less like a jumbo kids crayon, and much more like your favourite pen in middle school that came with the gripper attached. While this has no such thing, [it should!] it was the same feeling. After use? Have I changed my mind? Maybe. I don't know that I'll jump right into daily use, simply because sometimes I really don't have the extra 10 seconds it takes to swap the caps out and attach the wand. I just want to put a quick coat of polish on and go. However, much of my painting is leisurely, and so I could be very open to using this wand quite often. My realization though? This wand is ESSENTIAL for nail art. Every single time I used this wand, my mind kept reeling with ideas of how this wand could SO improve nail art I've done in the past; And now I'm absolutely kicking myself for not getting the creativity kit when I could. I AM very glad Julep listened to feedback and made the plie cap fit over current brushes, and did not make them mandatory to all new polishes. I love my swatch stickers, and this cap just looks awkward on the julep bottles when the wand is not attached. Overall, I do think this wand would be a HUGE benefit for ALL polish fiends, even if you don't use it 24/7. Those with hand-related disabilities will have no problem I can see with finally getting to [comfortably!] enjoy polishing their own nails. The best news, is it's actually affordable! The wand itself goes for $20.00 [$25.00 for non-mavens] here: And that Creativity Kit? It goes for the SUPER awesome price of $8.00 [$10.00 for non-mavens]!!!!
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! I'm so so SO excited for this month's Secret Store. It's by FAR the best in a very long time!!! ***Update: Full list updated, links and all! Emma is not showing as valid, so I have removed it at this time.
Excited? Yes! Tomorrow the Secret Store opens for EVERYONE. Get in and get yours now; Strawberry Shake is already SOLD OUT. That means any of your favourites could be gone by waiting until tomorrow!! If you know me, you know I LOVE and LIVE for two things. Nail polish, and Coffee. LOVE YUM. So, it should be no surprise I felt like doing a coffee-inspired mani today! I went for a french-tip based mani, using Julep's Cynthia for the fancy Cafe, and Julep's Fiore for the DELICIOUS looking chocolate drizzle. Best part? BOTH are available for YOU to buy! Get crackin', I want to see more of these gorgeous manis out there! ;D And don't forget! If you're not already a Maven, now is THE TIME to do so!! That's HALF the normal cost of shipping the Introductory boxes!! And as if that weren't great enough, we're rolling out a new Maven program, thanks to YOUR advice! You can save $15 over three months with our new pre-paid Maven option. The NEW Maven program allows AMAZING customizability! If you're wanting a little of this style with a little of that: You can have it! It's literally having your cake, and eating it too. For a limited time only, or as long as supplies last, you can buy any one of THREE mystery boxes, and receive polishes and product perfect for ringing in Spring!!! Already a Maven? Click the image above to order YOUR mystery boxes now!
Need to sign up? No problem! Click the image below, and welcome!! :) Julep Maven's subscription program has entered its 3rd spring palette [My 3rd Maven Anniversary is tomorrow!], and I'm still as in love as I was on day 1. This month is the "Vivid Brights" collection, and I can PROMISE you I was not the least bit disappointed. Some of these are in fact SO bright and vivid, they threw the saturation levels off on my camera! As a result, I had to edit the saturation in a few shots to put the polish back as close as possible to its actual colour; And in the process my skin morphed into some pretty strange colours. Hello ladies! I have a rather large and text-heavy post coming soon, so I'll save you a little and keep this one short, and VERY sweet! :) Julep has released TWO uh-MAY-zing deals in the last few days, and I have to share them with you. IF you're on a no-buy, I would reconsider! XD
Hurry over to Julep if you haven't caught this fantastic deal already! Julep is offering their Fantastic mystery boxes once again [Over $100 of product for $24.99, including limited edition polishes!!], with a St. Patrick's Day theme!
You can catch one of the three polishes shown above being released especially for these boxes with 3 Mystery Box versions; Or choose the 4th and be totally surprised! Personally, I'm after all four boxes ;D Okay, those of you that took the Modern Beauty box for December of 2013, or that chose an upgrade that included the featured product; You have a bottle of this already in your possession, and you're probably aware of the great benefits Julep claims to have in this bottle. From the product page on the site, it boasts:
You're also probably wondering: But does it? Spoiler alert: It Does. While testing out the Resort Collection, after taking Lani off I noticed some green staining. Not much, I'd only worn it a day, but it was still fairly noticeable. I figured: PERFECT! I had already tested Vanish's cuticle removing properties, and found it softened almost on-contact; And after just a second or two, was more than ready to have the stick taken to it [A clean, new orange wood stick; Please remember to use SANITARY products when dealing with any kind of hand care!!]. I had not, however, had a polish stain yet, as it IS a fairly rare occurance for me. I was stooooked when Lani had mild staining. Normally, nothing works right? Not now. Get ready gals, this is amazing. Here is what my nails looked like immediately after Lani's removal [Please note: I use 100% Pure Acetone, so nails and cuticles WILL be extremely dehydrated in appearance. Moisturizing comes after all this] I also made sure to do a stain compare photo, so you can better see JUST how big of a difference it made, even on a minor stain. :) Not enough proof yet? Here's a close up of the cotton ball I used to wipe the stain off, after Vanish application. [Note: I placed approximately two drops of Vanish on each nail, using the tip of the dropper to spread across my nail evenly. I then let it sit for 5-20 seconds, and wiped each fingernail off as if removing polish. I repeated for another short 5-10 second stint to get any residual stains off.] Pretty amazesauce, right?? The topmost photo, with the Vanish in hand, shows the after of how clean and bright my nails looked after the use. I was all set to go and put another polish on [In this case, Malia of the Resort Collection!] It's recommended to use Julep's Cuticle remover tool with this product, and I can promise you mine is on my "must have" list already; So if you haven't gotten one yet, click the button right here and get yourself one! [NOTE: These are currently out of Stock, check back later!! :D] Otherwise, orange wood sticks are still great tools to use, and can come to you fairly cheaply at your local Walmart or most drugstores for a buck per package. In the mean time, make sure to click THIS big button here to get your Vanish! 8D I have already ordered a second bottle for my collection, and I can't bring myself to say I won't order more. xD
